Now this is certainly one of the more characterful roles played by John Wayne. His portrayal of all-round bad egg "Quirt Evans" is mean and moody - if a little wooden at first. He is wounded and finds himself being cared for in the Quaker household of Gail Russell. Before long, those on his trail - including regular nemesis Bruce Cabot - show up and things take a turn for the more dangerous.
